Whatever Happened To Healthy Debate?

This is not the first time that I’m tempted to start a post with ‘The world has gone mad’!

In the UK, we have a general election in a couple of weeks. I normally quite like elections. I like the opportunity to have my opinion and to see what other people think and why. What makes people tick? What is important to them?

But the last 3 years have not been that great. People have been very divided. The Brexit debate was a massive deal. It had more sides than a universe-wide football league. More angles than a meeting of the polygon society — in a mirror! We are never going to agree because so much of it is guesswork, and it’s such a subjective debate.

But democracy doesn’t need us all to agree.

The prime minister who brought us the referendum resigned. I’m tempted to call him a coward, but it's not a job that I’d want. So we had another prime minister. She really tried…but failed. So now we have the insistent and irrepressible Mr Johnson. As a person, I don’t really like him. He seems like a bully, but maybe a bully will achieve something?
